MUMBAI: A year after Creators Project (CP) — launched by Intel and Vice Media to celebrate creativity — recognised art collector Dilip De for his breakthrough in using a smartphone and stylus to create art, he has secured copyright registrations of his paintings in this “new school of art” from the Union commerce & industry ministry.
CP is a platform that “features the works of visionary artists across multiple disciplines who are using technology to push the boundaries of creative expression”. De says he infuses traditional techniques with technology to unlock artistic creativity.
De, who calls himself a phablet artist, believes in the omnipresence of art – that it can be created anytime anywhere. His focus is to encourage an enthusiastic collection of art across all sections of Indian society by creating affordable art. He donated the proceeds of his entire exhibition at the Jehangir Art Gallery last year to charity and has committed himself to doing so again with his next show early-2018.
